Job Description
The Control System – Engineer will be part of the Controls & Automation Engineering team and will contribute to the development, implementation, testing, and commissioning of control system software for power plants, rotating equipment, and industrial processes. The selected candidate will work alongside senior engineers to design and program control logic, develop HMI applications, perform system validation, and support commissioning activities at site. This role requires strong analytical skills, a solid foundation in automation/control software development, and the ability to collaborate effectively in multi-disciplinary and global engineering environments. Essential Responsibilities: The Control System – Software Engineer is expected to demonstrate strong technical capability, high-quality execution, and a proactive team-oriented mindset. - Develop and implement control logic for DCS/PLC/RTU-based systems. - Configure and program function blocks, sequential logic, interlocks, and protection schemes. - Support development of HMI/SCADA applications including graphics, trends, alarms, and operator functions. - Assist in converting control philosophies, narratives, and logic diagrams into control software. - Prepare and maintain software-related engineering documents such as: - Control block diagrams - Sequence of operations - I/O assignment lists - Signal interfaces and mapping documents - Alarm and event lists - Participate in system design reviews and provide inputs for P&IDs and cause‑and‑effect matrices. - Perform offline and real-time simulation/testing of control logic. - Assist in preparing and executing Software FAT (Factory Acceptance Tests). - Troubleshoot logic, communication, or interface issues during testing cycles. - Validate feedback, alarms, setpoints, and interlocks with instrumentation and process teams. - Support on-site commissioning activities, including: - I/O checks and loop testing - Control logic validation - HMI testing - System tuning and troubleshooting - Assist in Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and support start-up teams during initial operation. - Coordinate with instrumentation, electrical, and process engineering teams for system integration. - Collaborate with global engineering teams and support multi-site project execution. - Identify opportunities for software improvement, standardization, and coding efficiency. Qualifications/Requirements: - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation, Automation, or related discipline. - Minimum 3 years of experience in control system software development (DCS/PLC/SCADA). - Hands-on experience with at least one major control platform (e.g., Siemens, ABB, Schneider, Emerson, Allen-Bradley, GE, etc.). - Strong understanding of industrial control systems, logic design, and communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP). - Good knowledge of automation standards, control loops, and system interfaces. - Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal). - Ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams and support global engineering environments. - Willingness to travel occasionally for FAT, commissioning, and site support. Desired Characteristics: - Experience with rotating equipment, turbines, or process plant controls is an advantage. - Familiarity with safety instrumented systems (SIS) or safety logic (SIL) is a plus. - Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. - Ability to work independently with a proactive and responsible attitude. - Adaptability to changing priorities and project needs. - Team-oriented and committed to transparent communication and collaboration.
